WOW! Settle down cartoon fans! Quite a few angry readers over the Jerry Lewis Parody. I support the MDA and Jerry Lewis’ efforts. It was unintended to provoke any individuals into a fit of rage. Here is what I donated to the MDA this year to auction off. A copy of Best Editorial Cartoons Of The Year 2009, and the autographed cartoon that was featured in the publication.

  Here’s a flashback from the past! We uncovered a bunch of old sketched illustrations/cartoons when I first started out working at a newspaper in Missouri during the last half of the 1980’s.  Just thought it would be fun to show rejected and accepted cartoon work. I’ll call it a “Lesson in humility and failure.” Ha,ha,ha!

The first three rejected images from 1988 eventually evolved the same character to a success in 2010! Although the first three Illustrations failed they were still a success. First, The initial character sketched out for a restaurant eventually made it’s way into my Studios Logo. Secondly, The publication that rejected the illustration eventually picked up FIDDLESTIX©  from my syndicate.  The final 3 illustrations also circa 1988 were created for a Comic Book Store. So get cracking budding cartoonists! You too can be a raging success in the arts world!

These are what the Studio Sketch Pages look like. I usually take these out to the convention type settings and provide them  for purchase to all the comic art form fans.  

If I personally like the sketch, I’ll end up cleaning up the sketch work and get it inked for future prints like The Beatles, and Abbott & Costello examples that I’ve shown here. (The Beatles and Abbott & Costello prints are available to purchase at The St. Louis Children’s Illustrated Art Museum.)
